Format: Carleton's New Illustrated Edition, 2 separate volumes with 4 works, both with illustrations by H K Browne ["Phil"], illustrated throughout in black and white, both have detailed frontispieces protected from their titlepages by preserved wax sheets, maroon boards cut/engraved with designs on top and bottom, gilded titles and author on spines, thick books, bright purple endpapers
Condition: Both Great! One has a slight curve of dark (you can see in certain light) like the outline of a cup or something on the cover, but it's hardly noticeable.
Publisher: G W Carleton & Co, Publishers
Date published: 1877
Provenance: My best friend found these with her boyfriend in an antique store a few years ago in New England and has had them forever on her shelf, now cleaning out some books and wondered if I could find a buyer for them--I felt someone on here might be interested in this wonderful pair! The signature on the front after the purple endpapers reads in large beautiful script of the time "Louisa L Desmond, February 14th, 1878"
